Leaning Tower of Pisa - Pisa Italy

The Leaning Tower Of Pisa - Pisa Italy
The leaning Tower of Pisa is famous because it leans. Although it was designed to be perfectly vertical, it started to lean during construction. However, even without this famous characteristic, this building would still be one of the most remarkable architectural structures from medieval Europe. It stands at 60 metres and until 1990 was leaning at about a 10 degree angle.
Tower of Pisa is more accurately referred to simply as the bell tower, or campanile. The Pisa tower is one of the four buildings that make up the cathedral complex in Pisa, Italy, called Campo dei Miracoli or Piazza dei Miracoli, which means Field of Miracles.
The first building constructed at Campo dei Miracoli, Pisa, was the cathedral, or Duomo di Pisa, which rests on a white marble pavement and is an impressive example of Romanesque architecture. The next building added was the baptistery just west of the dome. Then work on the campanile began. Before the work on the campanile was completed the cemetery, Campo Santo, was built.
The real identity of Tower of Pisa’s architects is a mystery. The most accredited architects of this first phase of work are Bonanno Pisano and Gherardo din Gherardo. The second phase of construction started in 1275, and the work is attributed to Giovani di Simone. Tommaso Pisano (1350-1372) was the architect who finished the work.
Piazza dei Miracoli of Pisa is the most splendiferous assemblage of Romanesque architecture in Italy. Faced in gray-and-white striped marble and bristling with columns and arches, the cathedral, with its curiously Islamic dome and matching domed baptistery, rises from an emerald green lawn. Flanking one side of the piazza, the camposanto, or cemetery, is a gracefully elongated cloister enclosing a burial ground with earth reputedly brought back during the Crusades from Golgotha, the hill where Jesus was crucified, so that noble Pisans could rest in holy ground.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is the piazza's crowning glory. Although only a third as high as the Washington Monument, it was a miracle of medieval engineering, probably the tallest bell towers in Europe. With 207 columns ranged around eight stories, Tower of Pisa looks like a massive wedding cake knocked precariously askew by a clumsy giant guest.
The construction of the leaning tower of Pisa began in august 1173, but was interrupted several times by wars, debt and while engineers worked on solutions to correct the lean. We now know that without these interruptions that allowed the soil to compress under the tower, it would have certainly toppled over. Pisa Tower was eventually completed in the mid-1300s.
The leaning Tower of Pisa was designed as a circular bell tower that would stand 185 feet high. It is constructed of white marble. The tower has eight stories, including the chamber for the bells. The bottom story consists of 15 marble arches. Each of the next six stories contains 30 arches that surround the tower. The final story is the bell chamber itself, which has 16 arches. There is a 297 step spiral staircase inside the tower leading to the top.
The top of the leaning tower of Pisa is about 17 feet off the vertical. The tower is also slightly curved from the attempts by various architects to keep it from leaning more or falling over.
Many ideas have been suggested to straighten the Tower of Pisa, including taking it apart stone by stone and rebuilding it at a different location. In the 1920s the foundations of the tower were injected with cement grouting that has stabilized the tower to some extent.
Until recent years tourists were not allowed to climb the staircase inside the tower, due to consolidation work. But now the leaning Tower of Pisa is open again and it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Italy.
The city of Pisa was at the beginning a simple Italian seaport. Its fame and power grew gradually over the years, as the people of Pisa were involved in various military conflicts and trade agreements. The Pisans attacked the city of Palermo on the island of Sicily in 1063. The attack was successful and the conquerors returned to Pisa with a great deal of treasure.
To show the world just how important the city was, the people of Pisa decided to build a great cathedral complex, the Field of Miracles. The plan included a cathedral, a baptistery, a bell tower (Tower of Pisa) and a cemetery.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa
The leaning of the Tower of Pisa comes into the story in 1173, when construction began. Thanks to the soft ground, it had begun to lean by the time its builders got to the third story, in 1178. Shifting soil had destabilized the tower's foundations. Over the next 800 years, it became clear the 55-metre tower wasn't just learning but was actually falling at a rate of one to two millimeters per year.
Today, the Leaning Tower of Pisa is more than five meters off perpendicular. Its architect and engineer tried to correct this by making the remaining storeys shorter on the uphill side - but to no avail. It kept leaning more and more. The lean, first noted when three of the tower's eight storeys had been built, resulted from the foundation stones being laid on soft ground consisting of clay, fine sand and shells.
The next storeys were built slightly taller on the short side of the tower in an attempt to compensate for the lean. However, the weight of the extra floors caused the edifice to sink further and lean more.

Statue of Liberty

Head of Liberty Statue
Statue of Liberty (Liberty enlightening the world) is a giant statue, located on Liberty Island, the Hudson River estuary in New York Harbor, the United States. This statue is the pride and symbol of the City of New York, it was not made in New York. The statue, designed by French sculptor, Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi was first built and developed in France in 1874. Statue of Goddess of Independence was presented by the French people to the American people, as a birthday gift to the American independence-100 and is a symbol of welcome to visitors, immigrants and returning Americans.
The Statue of Liberty, a woman holding on high a book and a 46 m long torch set on Liberty Island, situated at the entrance to New York harbor about 1 km from the landing point of the immigrants, was dedicated on 28 October 1886 and was designated a National Monument on 15 October 1924. On 8 September 1937, jurisdiction was enlarged to encompass all of Bedloe's Island and in 1956, the island's name was changed to Liberty Island. On 11 May 1965, Ellis Island was also transferred to the National Park Service and became part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument.
Statue Of Liberty
The statue was administered by the United States Lighthouse Board until 1901 and then by the Department of War; since 1933 it has been maintained by the National Park Service. The statue was closed for renovation for much of 1938. In the early 1980s, it was found to have deteriorated to such an extent that a major restoration was required. While the statue was closed from 1984 to 1986, the torch and a large part of the internal structure were replaced. After the September 11 attacks in 2001, it was closed for reasons of safety and security; the pedestal reopened in 2004 and the statue in 2009, with limits on the number of visitors allowed to ascend to the crown. The statue is scheduled to close for up to a year beginning in late 2011 so that a secondary staircase can be installed. Public access to the balcony surrounding the torch has been barred for safety reasons since 1916.
Now, the Statue of Liberty probably can no longer be visited by tourists, just like Grand Canyon and various other U.S. national parks if the budget problems unsolved. The closure will affect the attraction, operated by the National Park Service including popular attractions in the West such as Yellowstone and Alcatraz. Attractions were visited by an average of 800,000 visitors per day this year.
In one case the closure of a tourist attraction, the National Park Service will retain only about 2,000 of 17,000 employees to protect the tourist attractions. Economic losses from the closure of the site will total 32 million per day.
Regarding the White House and Congress to stop the budget, the backup plan has been made to cover government agencies that are not important. This could affect the fate of 800,000 government employees and sites like the museums under the Smithsonian Institution, including the National Zoo.

Classic Look

When it comes to the look, Angelina always chooses a classic and natural. Very hard to obtain the photo Angelina wearing latex lagging, or nails pointed and edgy haircuts a la Rihanna. Everyday Angie would rather wear tank top, classical wears, and flip-flops. While on the red carpet, she always uses an elegant dress. Regarding the makeup, Angelina almost never wears red lipstick and very rarely wears eye shadow colors. It's always natural and just flaunting what's already there. Well, some guy love stylish girl, but most of them are clueless and sometimes feel intimidated by women who are too stylish. They do not really understand our rapidly changing fashion trends, so you possibly look ridiculous in his eye when wearing a shirt asymmetrical or pants tiger motif.

Her Interest

The things that attract the attention of a woman, could describe his personality. And for Angelina, she was very interested in humanitarian issues. All started at the time of filming Tomb Rider in Cambodia. Since that time, had plenty of time, effort and money she spend to improve the situation of refugees in Pakistan, Thailand, Columbia, Ecuador, Kenya, Sudan, and more. Stunning generosity of everyone, not just men, but the most 'weaken' the man is the expression "you do not mess with a girl who’s on a mission to save the world." Women like this have great things going on her mind; she does not sweat the small stuff.

She’s Fearless

Seeing her behavior, such as Angelina does not have the slightest fear. She’s not afraid to leave Iraq in the midst of conflict, driving a Cirrus aircraft, and adopting children from three different countries. It seems like she has no worries at all. What guys really like about Fearless Girl Is That they're usually practical. Remove the fears of the little things that will not affect your life. Relax and open yourself to a lot of new positives Things.

Family Person

Angelina Jolie is a quality that makes it a perfect package. She was strong, independent and Fearless, but also gentle and very motherly. Brad Pitt himself is revealed as it appears on the Oprah Winfrey show. Brad says, the original Angie was very sweet, warm, and always be glue to the family. So… The Biggest lesson here is, most tough woman must be able to show her gentle side, and the sweetest woman must still have principles and the courage to run all of his dreams.

 Syahpa yang menyebarkan photo syahrini?
Syahrini & Kaka

Sekarang, lupakan dulu lagu-lagu duet mesra sepanjang tahun 2010.
Lagu Aku Tak Biasa mendapat sentuhan berbeda.

GEDUNG SATE | The Landmark of Bandung City, west Java, Indonesia

Gedung Sate
Gedung Sate with his trademark form of the ornament skewers on the central tower, has long been a landmark of Bandung, which is known not only for the public in West Java have been, but was also all over Indonesia and even being a building model as a trend for several building and the city characters used in West Java. For example, the building is outside the station Tasikmalaya. Built in 1920, this white building is still strong, but graceful and now serves as the central building of the Government of West Java.
Gedung Sate, which was in the Dutch East Indies period called governorates Bedrijven (GB), the cornerstone was laid by Johanna Catherina Coops, eldest daughter of the mayor of Bandung, B. Coops and Petronella Roelofsen, representing the Governor-General in Batavia, JP Graaf van Limburg Stirum to 27 July 1920 is the result of a planning team consisting of Ir.J.Gerber, a young architect famous graduates of the Faculty of Engineering Nederland Delft, Ir. Eh. De Roo and Ir. G. Hendriks and van Gemeente Bandoeng Party, led by Colonel. Eliminated. VL. Slors of its 2,000 workers, 150 people, including sculptors, or expert bongpay grave stone carving and wood sculpture of Chinese nationality who came from Konghu or Cantonese, supported by bricklayer, stir coolies and servers that come from residents Sekeloa Kampung, Kampung small hole Dago , Kampung Kampung Cibarengkok Gandok and previously worked on Gedong Sirap (Kampus ITB) and Gedong Papak (Bandung City Hall).
Gedung Sate
During the period of 4 years, finally in September 1924 successfully completed the construction of the main building Gouverments Bedrijven parent, including the headquarters of the PTT (Post, Telephone and Telegraph and the library).
Gedung Sate architecture is the work of the architect Ir. J. Gerber and his group are not independent of the input maestro Dr.Hendrik Dutch architect Petrus Berlage, bernuansakan the face of the traditional architecture of the archipelago.
Many architects and building specialists expressed Gedung Sate is monumental building stunning elegance with unique architecture leads to the form of the Indo-European architectural style (Indo Europe ash architectuur Stijl), so it is not impossible if the Borobudur temple also adds the elegance of Gedung Sate.
Some opinions about this great Gedung Sate including Cor Pashi and Jan Wittenberg two Dutch architects, who said: "building style of Gedung Sate is results an experimental style of the architect , the trend of the Indo-European style."
D. Ruhl in his book Bandoeng en haar Hoogvlakte 1952, "Gedung Sate is the most beautiful building in Indonesia."
Ir. HPBerlage, during a visit to Gedung Sate April 1923, said: "Gedung Sate is a work of great architecture, which successfully combines Eastern and Western styles in harmony." As with any style of Italian architecture in renaiscance especially in the west wing building. While storey tower in the middle of the building like roof meru or pagoda.
Gedung Sate, 1950
Strength and robustness Gedung Sate until now can't be separated by used materials and building techniques. wall of Gedung Sate was made from large stone pieces (1 × 1 × 2 m) taken from the rock hills surrounding in the eastern Bandung around Arcamanik and Mount Manglayang. Construction of Gedung Sate building using the profesional conventional way taking into account the technical standards.
Sate House stands on an area of 27990.859 m², building area 10877.734 m², consisting of Basement 3039.264 m², First Floor 4062.553 m², terrace of First floor 212.976 m², Second floor 3023.796 m², terrace of second floor 212 976 m², towers 121 m² and terraces of tower 205.169 m².
Gerber itself combines multiple streams of architecture into the design. For windows, Gerber takes the style of Moorish Spain, while for the building is Italian Renaissance. Especially for the tower, Gerber entered the Asia stream , namely style of the roof Balinese's Pura , temple or pagoda in Thailand. At its peak there is a "skewer" with 6 fruit skewers ornament (another version says, rose apple or jasmine) which represents 6 million guilders - the amount of cost used for build Gedung Sate.
Front view of Gedung Sate was very calculated. By using the axis of North / South (also in Pakuan Building, which used view of The Mount of Malabar in the south), Gedung Sate instead deliberately built viewing The Mount of Tangkuban Perahu in the north.
In the originally reserved for the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, even became the center of the Netherlands East Indies after the Batavia was not considered to qualify as a center of government since its development, so that used by the Bureau of Public Works. Dated December 3, 1945 there was an incident that took the lives of seven young men who defended Gedung Sate from Gurkha troops attack. In memory of the seven young men was made a monument of stone, which is in back yard of the Gedung Sate. By order of the Minister of Public Works on 3 December 1970 the monument was moved on the front yard of Gedung Sate.
Gedung Sate in 1980 was known as the Office of the Governor, because of it became a center of activities the West Java Provincial Government, which previously the governance of West Java Province occupied The Kerta Mukti Building in Jalan Braga Bandung.
In the east and west side there are two large rooms that will be reminiscent of the ballroom (ball room) that is often found in the European community's building. This room is more often known as the hall west and east halls, often used in official activities. In the both around this hall are the rooms that occupied by some of the Bureau with staff.
the top floor there is so-called the Tower of Gedung Sate, the floor is not visible from below, to go to the top floor using the elevator or by climbing the wooden stairs.
Gedung Sate has become one of the landmark in the city of Bandung. eSpecially foreign tourists, many of them are deliberately visited because it has emotional and history linkages in this building. The link of emotion and history will probably feel more complete if you climb the stairs one at a time that is available to the tower of Gedung Sate. There are 6 steps that must be passed with each 10 steps that must be climbed.
side view
The beauty of Gedung Sate is equipped with surrounding gardens are well maintained, do not be surprised if this garden enthused by the community of Bandung city and the tourists, both domestic and foreign. The beauty of this park is often used as the location of activities for gathering with family, music video shooting locations both local artists and national artists, the location of family photos or photos of yourself and even photograph the bridal couple.
Especially on Sundays environment Sate House lawn an option where to relax the majority of people are just sitting around in the fresh air of Bandung city or light exercise .
Comparing Gedung Sate with central government buildings (capitol building) in many capitals does not seem excessive. The equation is all built in the middle of a green complex with a magnificent central tower. Especially in terms of location of buildings and Gedung Sate relatively similar to the White House in Washington, DC, USA. It could be argued Gedung Sate is the "White House" of The Bandung city.

Jokes of Farmer

Clever Farmer
A farmer gets sent to jail, and his wife is trying to hold the farm together until her husband can get out.
She’s not, however, very good at farm work, so she writes a letter to him in jail:
“Dear sweetheart, I want to plant the potatoes. When is the best time to do it?”
The farmer writes back:
“Honey, don’t go near the field. That’s where all my guns are buried.”
But, because he is in jail the entire farmer’s mail is censored.
So when the sheriff and his deputies read this, they all run out to the farm and dig up the entire potato field looking for gun.
After two full days of digging, they don’t find one single weapon. the farmer then writes to his wife:
“Honey, now is the time to plant the potatoes.”

Different Tree
Some agriculture students are having a study tour in a fruit orchard.
One student says to a farmer:
“Your methods are too old fashioned.
I won’t be surprised if this tree will give you less than twenty pound of apples.”
“I won’t be surprised either,” says the farmer, “this is an orange tree”

Boxing Day

What is Boxing Day? Do people engage in fistfighting on that day?
Boxing Day is celebrated every December 26 in Canada, England, Scotland, Australia and New Zealand, but the event is not marked by a lot of fistfighting. Rather, people give money or other gifts to charitable institutions, as well as to the needy or people in service jobs.
Usually people give presents to postal workers or become volunteers for charitable causes, or simply enjoy an extra day of leisure.
Although its origin is still debatable, there are many theories explaining this tradition. one of them holds that the lords and ladies gave their servants a day off after Christmas, and presented them with boxes full of gifts and bonuses.
Another theory states that beginning in the ninth century, churces opened their alms box the day after christmas and distributed the money to the poor people. Either way, the tradition doesn't seem to have anything to do with fighting, but more with giving to the less fortunate.
